Title:Kenya Centre of Excellence in ITES-BPO

Desciption

The Government of Kenya is cognizant of the tremendous opportunities presented by the Information Technology Enabled Services and Business Process Outsourcing (ITES-BPO) industry. In order to gain a competitive edge in this industry, the Government is committed to developing a skilled manpower base as a requirement to become a major player in the global ITES-BPO industry.  

The Government of Kenya, through the Kenya ICT Board, has set up a Centre of Excellence for ITES-BPO training at the School whose mandate is to train, assess and certify successful candidates for the ITES-BPO industry in accordance with the government objectives as contained in the Vision 2030 Development Blueprint. 

The School has developed curriculum for Certificate in ITES-BPO with the involvement of leading stakeholders in the ITES-BPO industry as well as the Kenya ICT Board. The School is now undertaking the training in partnership with these stakeholders who are, among others, providing industrial attachment opportunities to the trainees and eventually employment for successful graduates.

 
Title:Development of Curriculum for Directorate of e-Government

The School recently completed the development a curriculum for the Directorate of E-Government targeted at various users. A Citizens Curriculum to enable ordinary Kenyans access government services online. An End-User Curriculum to empower government official in various ministries and departments to effectively use ICT in delivery of services. ICT Technical Curriculum to create pools of specialization in such areas as networks, databases, web development, and security. The technical curriculum will also prepare staff to provide user-level ICT support services to various government ministries and departments to fully exploit ICT resources service delivery curriculum, and train staff in project management skills. This was successfully completed in June 2012.

Toxicological studies (acute oral, inhalation, infectivity, acute dermal, skin irritation, skin sensitization, eye irritation), ecotoxicological studies (on bees, birds, fish, daphnia, alga) of conventional pesticides and biopesticides; and identification and enumeration of biopesticides.
