On 15th September 2014 the School of Biological Sciences was happy to host a visiting Professor and students from Yokohama National University (YNU) and held a seminar discussing the effects of nuclear waste. The discussion topic was about ‘Nuclear Waste and our Future’ where we had a presentation covering the Fukushima accident and the aftermath, issues of nuclear contamination and de-contamination, spent fuel problems and decision making about nukes.

1st African Symposium on Mycotoxicology (ASM) to be held from 26th – 28th May 2015 in Livingstone, Zambia under the auspices of the International Society on Mycotoxicology (ISM). The conference theme “Reducing mycotoxins in African food and feed” aims to create awareness on the importance of mycotoxins in food and feed safety, human and animal health and the economic impact of mycotoxins on the African continent.
Prof. Sheila Okoth, an associate professor of Botany at the School of Biological Sciences (SBS) has been appointed as a member of the Appeals Board of National Biosafety Authority, for a period of three (3) years.
