Background. The Maasai Children possess local traditional knowledge of medicinal plants which they acquire early on in life. ethno medicinal knowledge that was introduced to them at an early age of 7 years with the parents being the main drives of this transmission
The knowledge is also not transmitted among gender lines; both boys and girls are given the same knowledge on medicinal plants unlike other gender skills like herding which is passed from father to son or household chores which is passed from mother to daughter.
