University of Nairobi Hosts CyberWeek Africa 2024: Advancing Cybersecurity in Africa
The welcome address to first-year students at the Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Nairobi, delivered by Prof. Lukhoba on behalf of the Dean, Prof. Leonida Kerubo, and Prof. Musembi on behalf of the Associate Dean, served as an important introduction to both the rich history of Chiromo Campus and the academic journey that lay ahead for the new students.
The University of Nairobi, in collaboration with Maseno University, Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, Leibniz University Hannover (Germany), and Kibabii University, organized the second National Multiplication Training (NMT) workshop on Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL). The event took place from June 12th to 14th, 2024, at Kisumu Hotel, Kenya. The workshop focused on the theme "The Role of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) and Virtual Exchanges in Promoting Internationalization at Home in Higher Academic Institutions in Kenya."
The University of Nairobi's Chiromo campus recently hosted the inaugural School of Computational Techniques for Physics Students in Kenya (SCoTeP-K) from June 17-21, 2024. This landmark event, a collaborative effort between the Department of Physics and the Department of Computer Science, was designed to equip Kenyan physics students with advanced computing skills to bolster research in key national priority areas of science, technology, and innovation.
Mr. Samson Ekeno Lokwakai, an alumnus of the Department of Physics, is one of 10 global recipients of the McCall MacBain Scholarships at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. On Thursday, March 28, 2024, the University of Nairobi witnessed the swearing-in of new student leaders at the Taifa Hall. This ceremony followed the Faculty and Campus Students' Association elections held virtually on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, and the Council elections conducted on Thursday morning.
