Importance of Peer Mentorship explained during Orientation to the Club

Chiromo Campus Peer Educators (CCPE) plays an integral role in students' life . The student organization enables students to interact with others, get advise on opportunities available, enhance personal growth and attain academic excellence from students who are at an advanced level of education, other than themselves.

The club holds an orientation every year when first years join campus, to enlighten the students about  life in campus and mentorship activities among peers, in the University.

Kiboko Team Wins Environmental Mazingira Challenge

An exciting contest was the agenda of Chiromo Campus today as students passionate about the environment took up the challenge to engage in an environmental quiz and innovation challenge, dubbed Mazingira Challenge. Over 70 students registered to participate in the challenge which had sponsors from Doshi Steel, WWF Kenya, Coca-Cola, Kenya Forest Working Group (KWFG) and Inuka Foundation.

Teams of 24 comprising three students each participated in the first round, where 12 were ousted and the remaining battled it out in the semi-finals and finals. 

250 Youths Inducted for Countrywide Deployment in Ajira Digital Programme

Ajira digital Programme aims to have over 1 million youth earning a minimum wage in online work from inception of the programme in September 2018, until its finalization. “To achieve this, the Ministry of ICT, Innovation and Youth Affairs, has continuously provided skills, training and mentorship to more than 10,000 youths”, Permanent Secretary Ministry of ICT, Jerome Ochieng, highlighted during the official opening of a one-week Ajira digital induction programme at the University of Nairobi held on January 27, 2020.

Participants from 15 countries present 48 papers at UoN symposium

Exchanging ideas of successful climate change initiatives was one of the aim of the 3rd symposium on Climate change adaptation in Africa held at the University of Nairobi from 23rd-24thJanuary 2020.  

Already, the impact of climate change is being felt, not only in increased temperature, but also reduced crop yield, and incidences of diseases such as malaria.

12,535 graduate from the University of Nairobi in 2019

The University of Nairobi had 4,107 students graduate three months ago, in September, while 8,428 graduated during the 62nd graduation ceremony held on Friday 20th December 2019.

This makes a total of 12,535 graduates from the University of Nairobi in 2019.

The 62nd graduation ceremony was an extraordinary graduation as a Higher Doctorate Degree of Laws was conferred to Prof. Annie Patricia G. Kameri-Mbote. Prof. Kameri-Mbote is the first woman to be awarded a Doctor of Laws of the University of Nairobi (UoN).  

Collect, Consolidate, Upload Appropriate Web Content, Role of College Webchampions Established in a Meeting with VC

At least 100 website champions, commonly referred to as web champions, from all Colleges and Campuses at the University of Nairobi met with the Ag. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Isaac Mbeche, in a bid to showcase the website framework, explain the website strategies and demistify the role of the web champions . 

The website champions who have been officially appointed for a period of two years; from November 2019- November 2021 are mandated to sensitize staff and students and mobilize them to provide relevant content for the University websites.

Environmental Awareness Club Gets New Leaders

Chiromo Environmental Awareness Club (CEAC) has appointed new officials who will be in office from November 2019 - November 2020. The former chairman, Mr. Wilfred Chemoiwo Kiptoo officially handed over to Ms. Wangari Kigundu who now holds the Chairperson's office. 

All Student Leaders of Chiromo Campus Converge to Discuss Ways of Publicizing Student Events

Chiromo Campus has student organization with diverse membership of students drawn from different departments and Schools within the campus. Additionally, each organization has a structured team in office, complete with Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Organizing Secretary, Secretary-General, Head of Publicity, Student representatives among other officials.

The students engage with stakeholders from different industries and student members in organizing various activities, with leadership of Assistant Dean of Students, Ms. Lucy Jiomba.
